Pre-training at Shipton Lodge has paid off for Faustus with a win at Rosehill on Sunday Nov 12th. The colt, trained by John O'Shea and ridden by Jim Cassidy, took out first with $70,000 in The Nova 969 Fitzy & Wippa Handicap (1100m).
With just one trial as a lead-in to the race, his performance was one of the best of the two-year olds. “He is a lovely horse, he is still pretty new but he will take a lot of benefit from today. It was really a track gallop, three-quarter home in one, so a very nice colt,” said Cassidy. He'll be one to watch as we head toward the 2012 Sydney Carnival.
Our beautifully bred mare Madame Dehereos’ 2008 Lonhro colt was sold through the Shipton Lodge draft at the Inglis Easter Yearling sale and was purchased by overseas interests to race in China. Winning a feature race in China on the 29th October, he showed a sleek turn of foot to finish ahead of his rivals. Please see media release from Breednet.com
The highlight of Saturday’s fixture at the Orient Lucky City International Racecourse was the Three-Year-Old Championship over 2100m, which was won by BRIGHT FUTURE ($160,000 2010 Easter, 3c Lonhro-Madame Dehereos).
The foaling season is now complete with the last mare foaling last night. We now have a total of 20 young spritely characters livening up our paddock.
